ATLP was organized in 1929 as the bar association of the former Interstate Commerce Commission. The association has evolved through the years to include all practitioners in the transportation law profession, covering all modes. It includes practicing transportation attorneys, government officials, company counsel involved in transportation, industry practitioners, and others. Mission… is to equip our members with the necessary tools to be vital resources for their companies, firms, customers and clients who compete in a constantly changing and increasingly global transportation and logistics marketplace.
Publications --- Association Highlights
Our bi-monthly newsletter, Association Highlights, is the most comprehensive and authoritative digest of current developments in transportation law, regulation and court activity in the U.S. today. Highlights is written not by journalists, but by attorneys highly respected in their specific fields. Association Highlights provides updates on antitrust, aviation, hazardous materials transportation, customs, labor law, maritime, trucking, railroads, DOT and agency happenings, transportation safety, transportation security. It frequently contains guest columns by various experts.
Publications --- Journal of Transportation Law, Logistics and Policy
Our quarterly Journal of Transportation Law, Logistics & Policy contains academic-quality articles on timely subjects of interest to transportation and shipper attorneys and officials, covering all modes. Contributors to the Journal include practicing attorneys, legal and academic experts, government officials, and many others. The Journal’s subscribers consist of Association members, Supreme, Federal, State and Local courts, government libraries, as well as university libraries around the world.
Our association has taken the lead in working with federal transportation regulatory agencies to develop standards of expertise for those who seek to represent others before those agencies.
We provide several educational opportunities a year, including a Spring and Fall transportation "forum" at which practitioners in the transportation law hear leaders in the field address current topics of interest.
The association's Annual Meeting, typically held in late June each year, provides a comprehensive program addressing topics of interest and importance in the field of transportation law and policy. The program meets the requirements for Continuing Legal Education credits for each State Bar.
Membership in the association puts you in contact with other members of the transportation law profession and persons interested in logistics and transportation policy.
